About the Baldwin Learning Lab

The Baldwin Center in Pontiac, Michigan is a non-profit with the mission to feed, clothe, educate, and empower members of the community.  Since 1971, Baldwin has been a mainstay in the area, developing a wide range of program to suit the ever-changing needs of our clients.  The After School Learning Lab is a program that is open to all school-aged children in Pontiac with the goal of providing academic support and outside enrichment.  In a school district that continues to cut funding, and the staff and supplemental activities that go with it, we find it all the more important to provide the highest quality, free services available.  We believe that all people have gifts to share and are called to do so.  We believe in exposing children to all the great possibilities in this world.  We believe that the greatest gift we can offer our students is the opportunity to ignite a passion, share a talent, and build a relationship.  With these goals in mind, we seek out volunteers and community partners that are able to share their gifts with our kids and continue to encourage them to forage their own paths.

This blog is a collection of our daily doings, stories of success, risings from failure.  It is a montage of stories, recipes, activities, and words of wisdom from our students. Lastly, it is our hope, that this blog serves as an authentic voice for our students.
